Gina Corkery

Mixed Media and Watercolor
"I am inspired to create a visual moment that is preserved in time.”
Gina Corkery puts her heart and soul into her watercolor and mixed media pieces. Her theme is spiritual/mystical art. A watercolor wash is the backdrop of her pieces. Light/dark and dimension is then worked until each piece arrives to her delight and joy, in a manner that can be seen and felt by others.
In the tradition of the Native Americans, and many cultures, Gina sees that a particular flower or animal or bird that presents itself is a sign and a message deserving of acknowledgment and attention. When a piece mysteriously arrives (like the Dove), she researches it for historical and cultural significance as a symbol. Each of her pieces includes this research/artist's statement.
Gina creates her art from a sense of joy, wonder, and appreciation for life. Through the use of color, form, and reflection, her paintings calm the spirit, and thus can be seen as "healing art."
