Melinda Melvin

PAINTER | Spokane, WA
Born in rural Alabama, Melinda lived in many places in the U.S.. in 1989 she and her husband, Bill, found a home in Spokane Washington.
Melinda followed her childhood dream and began working as a nurse in 1985. She now works full time as a Registered Nurse in a large regional medical center.
At the age of fifty something changed and Melinda was inspired to follow her passion; becoming an artist. Melinda's abstract works are unusual. She uses paints and resin to create her three dimensional paintings. Looking beneath the surface of each piece the viewer will find the unexpected.
Her newest passion is allowing the female face and image to work as a window to her inner most thoughts. Her recent works are a collection entitled, "Faces" " That which is Individual is Universal". It is Melinda's hope that by sharing, we all come to realize our similarities and focus less on differences. She feels strongly that one of the greatest joys in life is community.
"My art is like relationships; at first glance you see one thing but when you get past the initial impression, intricacies present themselves. Getting to know my paintings is like getting to know a friend."
